A new reward has been announced for anyone who can help solve a teen’s murder in Norristown, as NBC10’s Lili Zheng reports. The case, which involved a shooting on Nov. 30, has recently seen new evidence surface, prompting police to intensify their search for the suspects.
The Incident
The shooting took place just after 6 p.m. on Nov. 30 on the 1000 block of Powell Street. Officers arriving at the scene found 19‑year‑old Hamid Boyd with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
Investigation Findings

Montgomery County investigators located surveillance footage that captured three men entering a white sedan and driving away immediately after the shooting. District Attorney Kevin Steele explained that the sedan is believed to be a Chevrolet. The video is a key piece of evidence that could link the suspects to the crime.
Community Response
“I felt a little hurt, you know, because he was cool,” Gabriel Torres, who knew the victim, told NBC10. “He was always respectful and he was cool with us.”
Norristown Police Chief Michael Trail emphasized the tight‑knit nature of the community. “Norristown is a tight knit community. Everyone knows everyone and we have reason to believe this targeted act of violence, people out there know what happened, they know why it happened and we need to know this,” Trail said.
Reward and How to Help
Officials are offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to the identification of the three suspects or the vehicle. Anyone with information can contact the Norristown Police Department at 610‑270‑0977 or the Montgomery County Detectives at 610‑278‑3386.
