Dolly Parton, 79, is on the mend after a kidney stone complication that forced her to skip a Dollywood event in September. The country music icon’s health scare has prompted a reshuffling of her upcoming schedule.
Health Update
In September, Parton missed a Dollywood amusement park event because a kidney stone caused an infection. In a pre‑recorded video shown at the ceremony, she explained: “Turned out it’d given me an infection,” she said, “and the doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling right this minute, so you need a few days to get better.’”
Miley Cyrus’s Encouraging Words
Her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, told Entertainment Tonight in an interview published Dec. 1 that Parton is eager to return to her normal routine. She said, “She’s always gonna keep the show going,” Cyrus added. “The show must go on, so she’s excited to get back to work.”
Postponed Las Vegas Concerts
Following her health setback, Parton announced that she would not be able to rehearse or present the performances she promised her fans. In a September Instagram post she wrote, “I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.” She continued, “You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”
Because of this, she postponed a series of concerts that were originally scheduled for December 2025 to September 2026.
Thanksgiving Video
Despite the challenges, Parton kept her spirits high. On Nov. 27 she shared a festive video greeting for Thanksgiving, saying, “I am so thankful for all of you and for the memories that we’ve shared through the years.” She added, “So happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and just know that I will always love you.”
