Registration for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics ticket draw opens Wednesday, giving fans the first crack at 14 million tickets starting at $28.
The lottery-style process will determine who gets early access to seats for the Games that return to Los Angeles for a historic third time from July 14-30, 2028, followed by the Paralympics from Aug. 15-27, 2028.
At a Glance
- Registration for the LA28 ticket draw begins Wednesday
- Ticket prices start at $28 for all Olympic and Paralympic sports
- Locals in LA and Oklahoma City get early-access window April 2-6
- Full public sales launch in 2026 (date not yet announced)
- Why it matters: This is the first chance to secure seats for the largest ticket release in Olympic history
How the Ticket Draw Works
Fans must first register to enter a lottery for a randomly assigned purchase time slot. Registrants will receive their slot via email, and those selected can buy tickets during their designated window.

Local residents receive priority. People with billing addresses in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, or Ventura counties qualify for the early-access window in California. In Oklahoma, residents of Canadian or Cleveland counties are eligible because Oklahoma City will host softball and canoe slalom.
To qualify for the locals’ window, registration must be completed by March 18. The early purchase period runs April 2-6. Full ticket sales open to the general public later in 2026, though the exact date and purchase limits have not been announced.
Dual-Venue Ceremonies
The Opening Ceremony will take place at two iconic venues: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The same venues will host the Closing Ceremony in a first-of-its-kind dual celebration.
During the Paralympics, SoFi Stadium will host the Opening Ceremony while the Coliseum handles the Closing Ceremony.
Competition Schedule Highlights
Competition actually begins two days before the Opening Ceremony on July 12, 2028, with field hockey, basketball, rugby sevens, water polo, handball, and cricket.
Day 1 of full competition is July 15. Notably, track and field and swimming have swapped their traditional schedules:
- Track and field moves to the first week at the Coliseum
- Swimming shifts to the second week at SoFi Stadium
The first medal will be awarded in triathlon at Venice Beach on Day 1. The busiest podium day arrives July 29 (Day 15) with 16 team gold and bronze events plus 19 individual medal events.
