Trenton hockey fans finally have a name to cheer for. The city’s new minor-league franchise revealed its identity Tuesday, cementing the return of professional hockey to Mercer County after a multi-year absence.
Trenton Ironhawks Name, Logo, Colors Unveiled
The Trenton Ironhawks brand was unveiled during a ceremony at CURE Insurance Arena. Team president Bob Ohrablo announced the name alongside Mercer County Executive Dan Benson and Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora.
The selection process lasted two months and drew more than 2,000 submissions. Jim Miller of Lawrenceville and Joel Perez of Bordentown submitted the winning entry. Both fans will receive two season-ticket memberships for the inaugural campaign.
Ohrablo said the name blends two local touchstones:
- The hawk, symbolizing strength and spirit
- Iron, honoring the industry and workers who shaped Trenton’s economy
Arena, Season Opener, Ticket Plans
CURE Insurance Arena will serve as the Ironhawks’ home when games begin in October 2026. The building has hosted minor-league hockey before, giving the staff experience with ice installation and game operations.
Season-ticket packages are already on sale. Hundreds of fans have joined as founding members. The club plans to market across Central New Jersey and into Bucks County, Pennsylvania, widening its potential fan base beyond city limits.
What Comes Next
Front-office staff will spend the next 18 months:

Ohrablo said the organization wants to “deliver exciting hockey and family entertainment starting in October and for years to come.”
